One prospect who is seeing his stock rise is Clayton (Ohio) Northmont defensive end Jaiden Cameron, a long-framed player with huge upside. We caught up with Cameron about how his recruitment is going at this time.

In the winter of 2018, Jaiden Cameron showed up to the Blockers O-Line Big Man Camp and showed great potential. While at times Cameron got frustrated during one-on-one drills as he weighed only 190-pounds, he was told to keep working as he showed all the tools to become a high-level player.

A year later, Cameron is seeing how adding 30-pounds has changed his game as he now stands 6-foot-4, 230-pounds. College coaches have also noticed and offers have started to roll in.

How have things changed over the past year?

“It feels very good and is exciting,” said Cameron. “I was a little discouraged last year coming out of the Big Man camp. However, it just encouraged me to work harder.

Cameron spoke about each of the schools that have extended an offer.

Toledo was my first offer. They were also my first visit this winter and I got a chance to see their football facilities and most of the school. I really like the coaching staff as they are very personable and into building strong relationships. That is very big to me, because I would be there for four years.

Miami came to watch me workout. Then, I got invited to attend a Junior Day. During my visit I toured the campus and entire football facility. About a week later, they offered me. Their facilities are brand new and at the time, that was the biggest campus I had been on. To learn they hold a very high standard with academics is something I didn’t know before.

I went to camp at Ohio University this past summer. I hope to get down for a visit soon as I didn’t get a chance to see much of campus. I saw the weight room and their facilities and from what I saw, the campus looks nice. It’s secluded and I didn’t even know Ohio had mountains.

I’ve talked with Coach (Will) Windham and Coach (Sean) Lewis from Kent State. They came to my school and then later I spoke with them and they said they were very impressed with me. They offered me a few days after that.

I’ve not been to Ball State yet but had a chance to meet Coach (Patrick) Dougherty. He’s the one that offered me. He told me he’s from the area and attended Kettering Alter. Ball State is close to home so I should be able to make it over for a visit.

My visit to Michigan State was a great experience. The day I visited they played Ohio State in basketball and it was exciting to be there as the crowd was loud. At the game, Coach (Mark) Dantonio was sitting in the same row as me and then after the game, he chilled out with all the players. He was very assessable, and anyone could go up and talk with him. He’s very cool and I like him.

I’ve been talking with Coach (Paul) Haynes, Coach (Mike) Tressel and Coach (Chuck) Bullough. During the visit we saw a lot of campus, but there was a lot of snow and we were not able to see everything. I had a chance to see the football facilities and after the game, we had a chance to talk with some of the current players about their experiences.

There were also position meeting, however, I got pulled out of mine to meet with Coach Dantonio. It was then he offered me. He’s the only one to offer you at Michigan State as they told me. They said if he doesn’t feel you, he won’t offer.

I went down to Cincinnati for a game against South Florida. I also attended their summer camp and visited for a basketball game against SMU.

That was the first time I met Coach (Chad) Wilt, since he just came from Army. They offered me a couple of weeks after the visit and I’ve been in contact with them ever since.

I also talk with Coach (Marcus) Freeman frequently. I’ve not had a chance to see much of campus, but I do like Cincinnati from what I’ve seen.

I also like the fact the program is on the rise and close to home. I don’t know if being close to home will be a priority for me right now, but it does kind of weight in on my mind a little bit. Coach Freeman is also a hometown guy and knows what Dayton’s about and I like that.

I started talking with Minnesota the other weekend when Coach (Joseph) Rossi contacted me. He said he was going to talk with my head coach, Coach (Tony) Broering about my character and academics.

Next, I spoke with Coach (Jim) Panagos, their defensive line coach and he talked about his coaching style and how many players he’s sent to the NFL Combine and draft. He talked about how Minnesota is a high academic school and how big their locker room is. I’m working on making a visit there.

I’ve been talking with Coach (Randy) Bates from Pittsburgh. He’s the one that offered me and told me he’s interested in me from watching my film. He talked with Coach Broering and said he came away feeling strong enough to coach me.

Coach Bates talked about how Aaron Donald works out there every day and if I came there, I could meet him. That is very exciting to me as he’s the best defensive player in the NFL. So that would be great.
