One of the top prospects in Southwest Ohio is Trotwood-Madison dual athlete Sammy Anderson. First Star Football Report caught up with Anderson following the Rams recent college combine day for the latest on his recruiting and more.

For Anderson and his teammates there is still a foul taste following last season’s disappointment. The 6-foot-2, 168-pound Anderson has worked to make sure 2019 is not a repeat of last season and the college combine allowed him to start providing senior leadership.

“It felt great to get out here today after the loss in Week 11 last season,” said Anderson. “It was good to get back out here with my brothers. I feel I’ve improved my speed since the end of last season. It’s improved a lot as I’ve been working to get faster and to prepare these guys and help them get better.

“My expectations are to lead this team and help them get a ring. I’ve got one and I want them to get one too.”

As for recruiting, Anderson is in no hurry to cut things down or eliminate any schools. However, a few are standing out currently.

“I’m still open and have not cut down a Top 10 or anything,” he stressed. “If more offers come, they come. Right now, I would say Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State and Pitt standout.”

When asked about each program Anderson said the following.

“At Indiana it was not what I saw, it was the people,” he started. “The people and the players stood out to me.

“There are a lot of Trotwood kids up at Michigan and they all want me to come up there. If it fits me, I’ll look to go there. But it must fit me.

“At Ohio State you have to work… It’s not going to be easy there.

“Pitt, I was going to take an official visit there in June, so we’ll see.”

What is Anderson looking for in a program and when is he looking to end the recruiting process with a pledge?

“I’m looking at the personality at each school and does it fit me,” he said. “As for when I’m looking to commit… I would say week three or the end of the season right now.”
