Last season Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne freshman athlete Adam Trick got a solid taste of playing at the varsity level. While most of his reps came on defense, Trick has a desire to become the Warriors starting quarterback this fall.

Recently, college coaches made their way to Wayne for an early morning workout with the Class of 2022 prospect being a player many took notice of.

What was it like for Trick to show college coaches he’s a player they should be tracking going forward?

“It was a great opportunity for me and my team to showcase what we’ve been working on during the offseason,” said Trick. “All the time in the weight room and out on the field is paid off.”

At 6-foot-4, 195-pounds, Trick easily projects as a linebacker at the college level early in his career. However, he’s looking to open eyes at a different position.

“The passion is I want to get on the field wherever my team needs me,” he stressed. “Last season, being a freshman with a senior quarterback meant getting on defense as that was where my team needed me. Linebacker, safety, wherever I could go during a game I would go. However, this year, I want to become the starting quarterback here and hopefully by my senior year, I’ll be recruited as a quarterback. That is my dream.”

This summer will provide Trick his first real chance of showing college coaches what he’s got in a camp setting.

“I didn’t attend any camps last summer,” he said. “I’m looking to attend Cincinnati, Michigan State, Syracuse and the Great Lakes Camps as they are to have like twenty coaches attending. The plan is to go as a quarterback to all the camps.”

A high academic prospect, Trick carries a reported 4.1 GPA while taking a couple of honors classes and plans to take the ACT towards the end of his sophomore year.

As for how he plans to handle any early recruiting attention. Trick knows where everything starts.

“You have to thank God,” he stressed. “You have to thank your family for providing for you and keep working hard knowing nothing is handed to you.”

As for what he’s expecting this season Trick stressed a team first attitude.

“As a team, we want to go undefeated and win state,” he said. “At Wayne, it’s always about making the playoffs and going far. As a player, I want to be the quarterback and show the growth I’ve made from last season to this season.”
