Over the years Lexington (Ohio) High School has seen its share of top-level football prospects including Ohio’s 2018 Mr. Football and Ohio State Buckeye Cade Stover.
In the 2020 recruiting class the Minutemen have one of the states hidden gems in offensive lineman Jacob Dennison, a 6-foot-6, 275-pound prospect earning offers from Division II and NAIA program with several Division I programs looking to see him in camp.
“I have five Division II offers,” said Dennison. “Tiffin, Ashland, Notre Dame College, Urbana and Southwest Minnesota University have offered, I also have an offer from Cincinnati Christian.
“I have just about every school in the Mid-American Conference talking with me along with Cincinnati and some Ivy League schools as well.”
First Star Football Report got a chance to catch Dennison in action over the weekend when he camped at Tiffin and came away impressed. This weekend, Dennison will look to see if he can start getting offers from Division I programs as he starts a busy camp schedule.
“I’m going to Kent State on Sunday for camp and I hop to get an offer from them,” he said. “I would love to get an offer from Cincinnati, Toledo and Eastern Kentucky, as I would love to play at those places.
“I’m also going to camps at Ohio State, Michigan State, West Virginia, Maryland and Marietta along with the Chicagoland Showcase and the Lake Erie exposure camp.”
With a 25 ACT score and 3.7 GPA, Dennison knows the game can provide some great opportunities.
“My goal is to get a full ride to play football and have football take me to free college,” he said. “I’m thinking about studying business or criminal justice and thinking eventually, I might investigate going to law school. But I’m not sure.”
As for when he would like to see the recruiting process end, Dennison is hopeful of putting an early end to all of it.
“I would love to have enough offers to commit in August,” he said. “But I’m not sure how that will go as I really want to play my senior year with my friends and not worry about that stuff. But if I don’t get any Division I offers until after my senior season, I think it would be worth waiting to commit.”
