One of the top offensive producers from Ohio ended his recruitment Saturday with a verbal pledge to Kentucky.
Fairfield High School running back JuTahn McClain, a First Star Football Report four-star prospect, gave Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops and Ohio super recruiter Vince Marrow his verbal pledge while visiting campus.
Listed at 5-foot-10, 180-pounds, McClain will bring breakaway speed and the ability to catch the ball to the Wildcats when he finishes his prep career.
Last season, McClain rushed for 1,754 yards and 25 scores to go along with 416 yards receiving and five touchdowns.
McClain brought his A-game when it mattered most with his top performance coming against Cincinnati Colerain. The Cardinals went 14-1 on the season and didn’t lose until their final game of the season in the state championship game. They also fielded one of the best defenses in Ohio but struggled to contain the future Wildcat giving up 275 yards rushing and three touchdowns.
Add in his ability to play a role on special teams and the Wildcats are getting one of the top prospects in the Midwest who can score anytime he touches the ball.
This is a major recruiting win for Stoops and his staff as McClain picked the Wildcats over reported offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame and several others.
