Freddie Johnson & Jaylen Thomas

Last season the Colerain Cardinals came one game short of a perfect season and a state championship. One of the key underclassmen to the team’s success was linebacker Jaylen Thomas who posted 43 total tackles with two interceptions including a 100-yard return for a touchdown.

Friday night, Thomas and the Cardinals looked to continue the success of previous Cardinals teams with a 28-19 win over Huber Heights Wayne in the Backyard Blitz.

Thomas led the way with a team leading 11 tackles and silenced those who feel the program could be on a down swing with the departure of former head coach Tom Bolden.

After the game First Star Football Report spoke with Thomas and his senior season, recruitment and proving critics wrong in this First Star Logistics sponsored video.
