Putting together a list of top defensive performances for Week Two proved to be tough. With over a dozen players being considered and after some tough decisions we narrowed things down to the following players for your consideration as the FirstStarFootballReport.com Defensive Player of the Week for Week Two sponsored by First Star Logistics.
Here is a look at each player and what they did to earn a nomination from their performances.
POLLS CLOSE ON THURSDAY 9/12/19 AT NOON
Chris Walton – Western Hills
The senior linebacker posted 10 total tackles and two interceptions in a loss against Mariemont High School.
Connor Keys – Elder
The senior linebacker posted 14 tackles and a forced fumble in the Panthers hard fought 38-31 win over Indianapolis Cathedral in overtime.
Noah Taylor – St Xavier
With 11 total tackles and 1.5 sacks the senior linebacker was the force behind the Bombers win over Colerain 21-14.
Jayden Marshall – Hamilton
In a 28-14 win over Anderson, Marshall posted eight total tackles to go with 2 sacks and an interception helping the Big Blue off to a 2-0 start.
Te’Vion Gilbreth – Springfield
Posted 15 total tackles (6 solo) along with a half-sack in a tough 16-12 loss to Fairfield.
Jason Ward – Chaminade-Julienne
The Eagles soared over Woodward 56-8 with Ward posting four tackles, a fumble recovery and two interceptions with one being returned for a 36-yard touchdown to start the scoring for the night.
Camden O’Gara – Wyoming
Super big night for the senior linebacker with 22 total tackles (16 solo) and a sack in a 28-0 win over Taft.
