DIVISION 5 REGION 16 #1 WYOMING – #7 VALLEY VIEW SNAPSHOT

EVAN PRATER LOOKS FOR ANOTHER REGIONAL TITLE

#1 WYOMING VS #7 VALLEY VIEW at Princeton HS

COMMON OPPONENTS

MILTON UNION
WYOMING – WIN 49-18**
VALLEY VIEW – WIN 49-48 OT
** = Playoffs

You can call the Valley View Spartans, Playoff Giant Killers as they’ve already knocked Clinton-Massie (9-2) and Roger Bacon (10-2) out of the playoffs. However, during the season the Spartans saw their struggles against teams with winning records beating Milton-Union in overtime and Brookville to close out the season. However, in games against Franklin (9-2) and Bellbrook (8-2) the Spartans came out on the other side.

Can Valley View knock defending state champion Wyoming out of the playoffs next?

If so, it will take another top performance from quarterback Cade Cradlebaugh against a Wyoming defense that gave up 42 total points during the regular season and seven last week against Indian Hill.

The Spartans offense starts and stops with Cradlebaugh and the senior will need help from the likes of junior receiver Troy Coulter, a 6-foot-4, 200-pound prospect who can create match-up problems for any team. On the season, Coulter has 770 yards receiving to go with 10 touchdowns but will need to turn in a performance like he did against Clinton-Massie for the Spartans to stop the Cowboys from advancing.

Like the Spartans the Cowboys offense starts with senior quarterback Evan Prater a top candidate for Ohio’s Mr Football award, All-American Game selection and future Cincinnati Bearcats quarterback following another big season. Over the past three weeks, Prater has taken over the Cowboys offense using his legs (620 yds, 11 TDs) more than his arm (218 yds, 2 TDs) as the Cowboys have continued to roll.

With a Region 16 title on the line it will be hard to bet against Prater and the Cowboys as they look to take another step back to a state championship game.
