We preview the second round of the Ohio High School Athletic Associations football playoffs with a focus on the Division Five team from Southwest Ohio in Region 20. Game is set for Saturday night and FirstStarFootballReport.com will be in attendance.

A Week Two loss to Division Four power Wyoming is the only blemish on the Senators season so far. Head coach Jeffrey Cargile has his team playing solid defense and since Week Five of the season the Senators have posted three shutouts and given up a total of 18 points.

All eyes are on junior Robert Brazziel a two-way standout. At quarterback, Brazziel has thrown for 1,894 yards and 23 touchdowns while also rushing for 377 yards and six scores. A dynamic playmaker, Brazziel does tend to turn the ball over with six fumbles and five interceptions this season. On defense the 6-foot-3, 200-pounder has 33 total tackles and six interceptions including a 90-yard touchdown return.

When Brazziel gives up the ball he hands it off to senior two-way standout Anthony Gaulden who has rushed for 524 yards and three touchdowns and posted 39 total tackles on the season.

Another playmaker for the Senators is junior Gianni Rudolph who has 36 receptions for 868 yards and 10 touchdowns this season to go with 37 total tackles.

The West Liberty-Salem Tigers are no slouch coming in with a 10-1 record this season and having defeated another Ohio Heritage Conference rival and playoff team in West Jefferson 42-39 in Week Eight of the season.

Senior quarterback Trevor Woodruff leads the way having passed for 2,303 yards and 26 touchdowns with six interceptions. Senior Holden Nease is the teams leading rusher with 911 yards and 13 touchdowns and junior Nick Burden is the leading receiver with 503 yards and six touchdowns.

The Tigers have been solid on defense giving up an average of just over 10 points a game during regular season play. Junior linebacker Isaiah McGill is the teams leading tackler with 77 followed by Burden with 60 stops to go with three interceptions.

FirstStarFootballReport.com is excited to check out the Senators as we’ve heard great things about Coach Cargile’s squad throughout the season.
